November 27, 2018 @ 9:00 am - 1:30 pm
Dear MDBC members,
Due to circumstances, please note that this event has been postponed until Q1 2019.
Further information on the revised event details will be made available as soon as they have been confirmed.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Dear MDBC members,
Due to a large, young, and fast growing Muslim demographic, in combination with a substantial and quickly expanding global Islamic economy, Muslim markets in the Middle East and Asia are some of the leading consumer markets today. Muslim markets are growing in both width (new product categories are getting halal certified) and depth (more brand owners within each category are obtaining halal certification). With double digit growth, it is not surprising that all major fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) brand owners want to be present in these markets.
There is an ongoing evolution towards a halal supply chain and value chain. This requires companies to be halal end – to – end, instead of just focusing on their own operations. Companies that do not organize their halal assurance systems to meet these new requirements can easily lose their license to operate in Muslim markets.
Through social media, a single halal issue can easily snowball into a major crisis for brands on a global scale. Companies need to understand that their brand and business can be at serious risk with a halal issue or crisis. This means that Halal reputation needs to be managed. A corporate halal reputation is a collective representation of the firm’s past actions and halal performance, and the firm’s future ability to meet halal requirements. Prof. Dr. Marco Tieman developed the Halal Reputation Index to quantify halal reputation for companies and brand owners. Today, the Halal Reputation Index is used for measuring, bench – marking, and continuously improving the halal reputation of companies.
In this MDBC Education 360 Masterclass on Halal Supply Chain Management, Prof. Dr. Tieman will discuss the following topics:
1. Evolution of halal and emerging industry requirements;
2. Halal Supply Chain Management and Halal Synergies;
3. Halal clusters with a case study on Modern Halal Valley (Indonesia’s first and largest halal park); and
4. Halal risk & reputation management.
This workshop gives you insight into the latest academic research as well as best – in – class halal supply chain management practices. This workshop provides you with an opportunity to learn and ask questions from the world’s leading halal supply chain expert. Furthermore, it will allow you to initiate a transformation of your company towards a halal supply chain and value chain.
