MDBC: HR Forum – Digitalization & Balance

Dear MDBC Members,

This pandemic has shown us the importance of technology and digital connectivity, not only enabling work to continue from home, but also highlighting that there are more flexible options available than the traditional set up.  What does this mean for work life balance and the integration between both commitments?  MDBC’s next HR Forum session discusses the implications of “Digitalization & Balance”.

Featuring MDBC members TalentCorp Malaysia and Thomas International, we bring you insights on how you can properly manage your work life balance through the technology that is provided to us, while maintaining good mental health.  The presentations by TalentCorp Malaysia and Thomas International will introduce you to various Flexible Work Arrangements (FWAs) and the realities of work life balance.  The session will be moderated by Randstad.

SPEAKER: Vaffa Chau
(Manager – Malaysia Professional Talent (MPT), TalentCorp Malaysia)

Vaffa has over 15 years of experience in marketing communications, specializing in strategic implementation of projects with cross – functional teams.  She currently leads TalentCorp’s Malaysia Professional Talent (MPT) department which oversees Work – Life Practices (WLPs), Women’s Career Comeback Programme and the LIFE AT WORK Awards.  Since joining TalentCorp in 2015, Vaffa has engaged with companies from various sectors and sizes to promote Flexible Work Arrangements (FWAs), Women on Career Breaks, and Diversity & Inclusion in the workplace.  Vaffa was also part of the contingent invited by the Ministry of Women and Gender Equality of Chile to represent Malaysia at APEC Chile 2019, to share TalentCorp’s agenda in driving the female labour force participation and women’s economic empowerment.  More recently, Vaffa participated in providing input by TalentCorp to the Government for Malaysia’s PENJANA economic stimulus package.

Prior to joining TalentCorp, Vaffa was the Branding Manager at a large conglomerate under Khazanah Nasional Berhad.  She holds an Honors Degree in Mass Communication and majored in Public Relations at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.

 

SPEAKER: Hein Jan Lapidaire
(Regional Director Asia, Thomas International)

Hein Jan grew up in Huizen (Noord Holland). After his studies in Wageningen, he worked in different roles in hospitality in Zeeuws Vlaanderen and Limburg, before he moved to ‘s-Hertogenbosch.  There he joined Thomas in 1996 as Senior Consultant for The Netherlands.  Over the years he also served in other positions as Trainer and Sales Manager.  In 2015 he moved to Sydney, Australia, where he set up the new office and team for ANZ.  In 2017 Thomas took the decision to set up a regional support center for APAC in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, with Hein Jan heading the Thomas office and team at this side of the globe.  Since then the Thomas teams in Malaysia has received several awards in the Psychometric Vendor of the Year competition.

In his spare time you can find Hein Jan on a tennis court or exploring the Malaysian (food) culture and hospitality, motto: diet on weekdays and feast on weekends!

Jaya Dass joined Randstad in 2008 as a recruitment consultant and she now helms the Singapore and Malaysia offices that collectively house more than 130 recruitment consultants across multiple spedizations.  Equipped with strong business acumen drawn from her prior experience in business operations and development as well as audit, Jaya is known for her ability to craft future – ready business strategies and empathetic leadership skills.
