Visa Services

Applications for visas can be a headache. As a company, you want to focus on your core business. As a foreign worker or resident who is preparing to move to Malaysia for a job or (semi) retirement, the last thing you need is to be stressed out over whether you compiled everything necessary for your visa application, guessing on how to fill out the necessary forms, and who to submit the forms to.

Let us guide you through the hassle of the visa application process so that you can focus on other important tasks. If your company is looking to hire expat talent, you will need to be registered with the Expatriate Services Division before you can begin applying for their visas / passes. MDBC provides various visa related services: ESD registration, application and endorsement for the Professional Visit Pass (PVP), EP I, II, III, RP – T, Dependent Pass (if eligible), and APEC Business Travel Cards.

Visa Services

Expatriate Services Division (ESD) Registration

The Expatriate Services Division (ESD), under the Immigration Department of Malaysia, is a one – stop centre facilitating companies wishing to employ foreign talents.  Companies need to register with ESD prior to applying for expatriate visas / passes.  When ESD registration is approved, applications for the selected visas can be made via the ESD website at esd.imi.gov.my

Please note: ESD registration is required for all visa applications.
Depending on your specialization or business sector, there may be other government visa approving agencies should you not want to register with ESD.

For member – companies who are participating in the MDBC Student Internship Program, ESD registration is required in order to apply for the Professional Visit Pass (PVP).  For more information on the PVP, kindly refer to the appropriate panel.

What MDBC Does For You

MDBC will provide you with step by step guidance on how to fill in the ESD registration.  If there are any issues with the registration process, MDBC acts as a liason between your company and ESD to troubleshoot the application.  MDBC can also guide you through the visa application process via the ESD website.

MDBC members who need to register for ESD for the purpose of participating in the Student Internship Program may contact MDBC office for a favorable rate.

Professional Visit Pass (PVP)

A Professional Visit Pass (PVP) is granted to foreign talents with the acceptable professional qualifications or skills for a specific period stated.  To date, successful applications may enter the country and provide services, or undergo practical training with a Malaysian company, or on behalf of an overseas company on a temporary basis, for up to 12 months.  

Individuals participating in the MDBC Student Internship Program (SIP) will have to apply for a PVP in order to complete their internship in Malaysia.  Member companies who are participating in SIP will also need to ensure that their organization is registered with the Expatriate Services Division (ESD).  If your company hasn’t already registered, MDBC can also provide assistance for ESD registration.  For more information, kindly refer to the ESD panel.

What MDBC Does For You

MDBC will provide you with step by step instructions on what is needed for the PVP application.  Once all of the necessary documents have been collected, a representative will also perform a check to ensure that all documents and forms have been filled and compiled correctly prior to submission to the Immigration Department of Malaysia for consideration.  A request will be submitted to the Immigration Department on your behalf for permission to apply for the PVP.

If your application is successful, MDBC will then guide you through the next steps for visa endorsement.
If the application is rejected, MDBC will liaise with the Immigration Department to troubleshoot the matter. 
If necessary, MDBC will lodge an appeal on your behalf for a reconsideration of your PVP application.

Employment Pass (EP) I, II, and III

The Employment Pass (EP) is a work permit that enables an expatriate to take up employment with an organisation in Malaysia.  The EP is further subdivided into three levels and indicates differing levels of salary scale, employment period, and benefits.  The pass is subject ot the contract of employment and is only valid in Peninsular Malaysia.

What MDBC Does For You

MDBC will advise you on which EP category is applicable for you (I, II, or III).  Depending on the category and the sector that you are working in, MDBC will then provide you with the details on what documents are necessary for your submission.  

Once all of the necessary documents have been collected, a representative will also perform a check to ensure that all documents and forms have been filled and compiled correctly prior to submission to the Immigration Department of Malaysia for consideration. 

If your application is successful, MDBC will then assist you for visa endorsement.
If the application is rejected, MDBC will liaise with the Immigration Department to troubleshoot the matter.
If necessary, MDBC will lodge an appeal on your behalf for a reconsideration of your EP application.

Dependent Pass (If eligible)

Employment Pass (EP) I and II holders are eligible to apply for a Dependent Pass (DP) for their spouse, children under 18 years of age, legally adopted children under 18 years of age, or parents.  The duration of this pass is based on the principal applicant (if the passport validity of the DP applicant is less than the EP holder, the duration will be based on the DP applicant’s passport validity).

What MDBC Does For You

MDBC will assist you through the DP application and guide you on the necessary documentation needed.  Please note that this also requires prior company registration with a government visa approving agency by the EP holder.  

If your application is successful, MDBC will then assist you for visa endorsement.
If the application is rejected, MDBC will liaise with the Immigration Department to troubleshoot the matter.
If necessary, MDBC will lodge an appeal on your behalf for a reconsideration of your DP application.

Residence Pass – Talent (RP – T)

The Residence Pass – Talent (RP – T) is a 10 year renewable pass for highly qualified expatriates to continue residing and working in Malaysia – to provide greater diversity to the nation’s talent pool.  To be eligible for an RP – T, applicants must first meet the following top three criteria:

  • Has worked in Malaysia for three years
  • Holds a valid Employment Pass at the time of application
  • Earns a basic salary of RM 15,000 per month

What MDBC Does For You

MDBC will advise and assist you on the RP – T application.  Once all of the necessary documents have been collected, a representative will also perform a check to ensure that all documents and forms have been filled and compiled correctly prior to submission to TalentCorp Malaysia for consideration.

If your application is successful, MDBC will arrange for your EP visa cancellation and RP – T visa endorsement.
If the application is rejected, MDBC will liaise with TalentCorp to troubleshoot the matter. 
If necessary, MDBC will lodge an appeal on your behalf for a reconsideration of your application.

Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H)

The Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) visa is open to citizens of all countries recognized by Malaysia regardless of race, religion, gender, or age.  This multiple entry visa is initially valid for a period of ten (10) years (depending on the validity of the applicant’s passport), and is renewable.  Applicants are allowed to bring their spouse, unmarried children below the age of 21, and parents as dependents.  

What MDBC Does For You

MDBC will advise you on whether you are eligible for the MM2H visa.  If eligible, we will guide you through the visa application process.  This includes a check prior to submission to ensure that all of the necessary documentation and forms have been filled out correctly. MDBC will assist you in the submission of your application.

If successful, MDBC will arrange for your visa endorsement.
If the application has been rejected, MDBC will liaise with the Ministry of Tourism Malaysia to troubleshoot the matter.
If necessary, MDBC will lodge an appeal on your behalf for a reconsideration of your application.

APEC Business Travel Card (ABTC)

The APEC Business Travel Card is a multi – journey visa issued to eligible business travelers who are citizens of Asia – Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) participating countries.  Valid for five years, card holders enjoy visa free entry and expedited immigration clearance through designated ABTC lanes in ABTC participating countries.  

What MDBC Does For You

MDBC will advise and assist you on the APEC card application.  Once all of the necessary documents have been collected, a representative will also perform a check to ensure that all documents and forms have been filled and compiled correctly prior to submission to the Immigration Department of Malaysia for consideration.

If your application is successful, MDBC can assist in the collection of the APEC card.
If the application is rejected, MDBC will liaise with the Immigration Department to troubleshoot the matter. 
If necessary, MDBC can reapply on your behalf for the APEC card.
