Italian defense and aerospace firm Leonardo has expanded its Global CyberSec Center (GCC) network through the inauguration of a regional cyber center in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The facility capitalizes on Malaysia’s strong cybersecurity laws and protections for critical national infrastructure, integrating Leonardo’s expertise in cyber defense, mission-critical communications, and advanced defense systems.
It will help safeguard against hybrid threats while supporting the country’s digital autonomy and the sustainable development of its critical infrastructures, including National Cloud and National Security Operation Centers.
In addition, the initiative aims to position Kuala Lumpur as a strategic hub for cybersecurity across Southeast Asia.
Andrea Campora, Leonardo’s Managing Director of Cyber & Security Solutions, described it as a long-term investment that reflects the company’s commitment to partnering with Malaysia and developing specialized local talent.
The Italian company has been active in the Southeast Asian country for more than 40 years, providing helicopters, military aircraft, radar, naval and electronic warfare systems, and integrated security solutions.
Global Cybersecurity
The GCC network combines threat intelligence, advanced technologies, and expert procedures to protect defense organizations and critical infrastructure worldwide.
Its federated model enables coordinated global defense while ensuring countries maintain control over their sensitive data.
Malaysia joins other GCC centers in Chieti, Italy; Bristol, UK; Brussels, Belgium; and Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
