The Danish Chamber of Commerce Malaysia, in collaboration with MDBC member Vriens & Partners, and MDBC, are pleased to invite you to a business *briefing titled “Between Reforms and Compromise: A peek into Anwar’s Government as the Dust Settles”.

Speakers:

Shazwan Mustafa Kamal (Director, Vriens & Partners KUALA LUMPUR). Shazwan is a Director at Vriens & Partners’ office in Kuala Lumpur and brings along 10 years of professional experience in the field of politics, journalism and the media. From 2014 to 2020, Shazwan worked for online news portal the Malay Mail as an assistant news editor and senior journalist. In this role, Shazwan directly oversaw the newsdesk’s day – to – day operations as well as its political analyses. He also led the news team in the coverage of important event like the 2018 general election, and spearheading story packages. From 2009 to 2012, Shazwan worked as a journalist for the news portal The Malaysian Insider, where he extensively covered breaking political and economical stories. Shazwan received his Bachelor’s of Arts in Communication from Monash University, and a Master’s in Diversity and the Media from the University of Westminster, UK. He was also a 2012 Chevening scholarship recipient.

Megan Ooi (Associate, Vriens & Partners KUALA LUMPUR). Megan Ooi is an Associate at Vriens & Partners’ office in Malaysia. In her role, Megan provides government relations support for clients in various sectors such as tech, healthcare, transportation and tourism. Previously, Megan worked at a non-governmental organization dedicated to human rights reform in Malaysia. She assisted the organization in creating parliamentary briefs and advocating for the abolishment of anti – humanitarian laws. Megan recently completed her double master’s degree specializing in International Security, Conflict Management and International Administration with the University of Konstanz and the University of Warwick. Her master’s thesis the internal dynamics of Indonesia and the Philippines and how it influenced the countries’ deradicalization strategy for religious terrorists. Megan holds a bachelor’s degree in Politics and International Relations from the University of Nottingham. During her studies, Megan was an active volunteer in numerous student organizations. In her spare time, Megan does outdoor activities and learns foreign languages.
