MDBC: HR Forum – Safe@Work

July 21, 2021 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Dear MDBC members,

Safe@Work is something that we all need to strive for!  It’s not just for the HR department; everybody in the company needs to be involved.

While we are all looking forward to the moment and opportunity to be allowed back into our offices and factories, or work at higher capacity, MDBC together with the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) (and as part of our MDBC HR Forum series), bring you Safe@Work on Wednesday 21 July.

Safe@Work is the Government initiative promoting enhanced public health measures to empower employers to be accountable for containing the pandemic among their workers. It contains Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) detailing preventive measures and case management through the creation of Safe Work Bubble.

We are also pleased to include Jacobs Douwe Egberts Malaysia, the subsidiary of Netherlands – based parent company Jacobs Douwe Egberts (JDE).  JDE is part of JDE Peet’s, the world’s largest pure – play coffee and tea company by revenue.   In Asia, JDE’s portfolio of iconic coffee, tea, and cereal brands include Super, Old Town White Coffee, Essenso, Moccona, and L’or, inclusive of the F&B cafe business under the Old Town White Coffee brand.   With 2,700 employees spread over multiple locations and a substantial supply chain, JDE Malaysia has ample practical Safe@Work experiences to share, which can be beneficial to all in our membership community.  JDE built their own SOPs based on Malaysia’s requirements, but enhanced them based on lessons learnt from their operations in China.  It adds further rigor to safety protocols, behaviors, and practices in the workplace, and extends it to worker transportation and improved living conditions in company housing.  JDE is working hard to help Malaysia flatten the curve and is keen to share its best practices and insights.
