  1. The government of the Netherlands expects Dutch companies to conduct business responsibly, both within the Netherlands as well as abroad.  Recently, the European Commission published a proposal on corporate sustainability and responsible business practices. This proposed directive establishes a due diligence duty for both EU companies and large multinationals doing business on the EU market, implying a duty to actively identify, prevent, mitigate, and terminate any negative impact a firm might have on its social as well as natural environment.  What do these upcoming regulations mean for Dutch multinational companies operating in Malaysia, and for Malaysian suppliers integrated into a Dutch value chain?  What are the best actions to undertake when preparing for these upcoming requirements, and what support is available from not only Dutch, but also EU and Malaysian authorities?  In collaboration with the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, the MDBC aims to set up the MY Orange RBC Working Group, the place where Dutch and Malaysian companies can come together to exchange more, learn more, and do more to reduce their supply chain risks. More news on the Working Group will be included in our reminder e – mail follow up next week.   The Embassy and MDBC would like to encourage all of our members that this is relevant for, to be present on 18 April to listen to, discuss with our panel speakers, and to bring relevance to the launch of the working group.
  2. In 2019, MDBC became the second NL Business Hub in the world to be accredited by NLinBusiness.  At this moment, we are proud to announce that MDBC will be the first one to be re – accredited!  This will take place during a signing ceremony with NLinBusiness Managing Director, Edo Offerhaus, who is making a visit to Kuala Lumpur for this occasion.
  3. And therefore, MDBC takes great pleasure in concluding this special event with our first – ever buka puasa with, and for, members.

At a special venue for this special occasion: EQ Kuala Lumpur.
