MDBC Johor: Deloitte 2023 Budget Briefing

Join us for a briefing by Deloitte Tax Services on Tuesday, 21 March on Budget 2023.  We delve into the changes and important items to note for Personal Income Tax, Corporate and Other Taxes, Incentives, Customs, and Indirect Taxes.

Speakers:

Thean Szu Ping (Business Tax Executive Director, Deloitte)

Szu Ping has over 20 years of experience in the public accounting practice, providing local and international clients tax planning ideas and advisory services. She is involved in conducting tax due diligence exercises, assisting clients in tax audits and investigation by the Inland Revenue Board and she routinely assists clients with applications for tax incentives and licenses from MIDA and other authorities.  Szu Ping also assists clients in complying with transfer pricing regulations, conducting prudential tax audits, and applying for stamp duty exemptions.

Szu Ping also handles expatriates on in – bound and out – bound assignments, conducts review on taxability grids and advising clients on their compensation structure. Her clients vary from petrochemical industries, electronics and electrical, consumer products, port operators, construction, and property developers and include multinational companies, as well as companies listed on Bursa Malaysia.

Nor Suhana Sulaiman (Audit & Assurance Partner, Deloitte)

Suhana is primarily responsible for the portfolio of audit clients in the Johor Bahru office.  She has more than 15 years of experience with the Audit Practice in Deloitte.  She has been involved in various audit assignments comprising clients of various sizes involved in a wide variety of industries.  She is also involved in financial statement audits in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles in the United States of America (US GAAP) and on SOX compliance.  Suhana currently also offers Disruptive Events Assurance offerings such as IPO readiness and business advisory services to clients.  Apart from her audit practice, Suhana also had 6 years experience heading the Finance Department of a public listed company in Malaysia in the manufacturing sector, ultimately attaining the role of Chief Financial Officer by the age of 33.  In Deloitte, she is a faculty member of Deloitte University Asia Pacific (“DUAP”) who provides trainings at SEA level on Professional Service Excellence, Coach for Performance, Coach for Growth, Inclusive Leadership, and various Train – the-trainer programs. She also provides internal and external technical trainings on MFRS and audit excellence.

Raden Hidya Binti Raden Ismail (Business Tax Senior Manager, Deloitte)

Ayu has over 17 years of tax experience in the public accounting practice handling both corporate and individual taxation.  She has extensive experience in corporate tax services. Her clients vary from a range of industries such as manufacturing, agriculture, food, health care, trading, chemical, construction and property developers and include multinational companies as well as companies listed on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange.

Ayu manages a team of 6 staff handling all aspects of corporate tax compliance matters including preparation of tax computation and filing of tax returns.  She is also involved in conducting prudential tax audits for corporate tax matters, assisting clients in tax due diligence exercise. She has represented clients and negotiated with the Inland Revenue Board for settlement of tax audit and investigation cases.  She also handles reinvestment allowance documentation, assists clients to apply for tax incentive from MIDA, reviews compliance of withholding tax provisions, and handles various tax advisory matters on compliance.
