MDBC: Outlook 2022

Dear MDBC members,

It’s a new year and that means we are bringing the MDBC community together for our annual Outlook event.  On Tuesday, 25 January, Outlook 2022 will be organized with two sessions in one afternoon, giving you valuable information and networking in an in person setting.

Firstly, we are inviting the main local government agencies (MIDA, MDEC, TalentCorp / MYXpats, InvestKL, and Invest Selangor) to update you on their activities and services.  We have also invited MITI to provide a RCEP briefing.

Secondly, we are inviting several industry experts to provide us with a closer look at the current situation and developments in their sectors: HR Trends, 5G, Commercial Real Estate, Logistics, and Political Outlook in the country.*

Nazhif Yusoff (Country Director, Vriens & Partners) 

Topic: What’s at Stake for 2022: Politics and Pandemic
With the team, Nazhif Yusoff consults for clients from various verticals such as technology, healthcare, transportation, and tourism, helping them develop their government relations strategy. Previously, Nazhif was with the trade and investment team at Malaysia Petroleum Resources Corporation, an agency under the Ministry of Economic Affairs. At MPRC, he developed the agency’s database of export opportunities and connected Malaysian oil and gas companies with opportunities overseas through the organization of trade and specialized marketing missions.

Fahad Naeem  (Head of Operations, Randstad Malaysia)

Topic: HR Trends to Watch in 2022
In his remit as the Head of Operations in Randstad Malaysia, Fahad Naeem manages business strategies and finances, as well as local operations in talent recruitment and HR solutions. Naeem has 10 years of experience in the HR industry and specializes in technology recruitment. He also avidly keeps track and shares the latest developments in technology and employment with his clients and candidates.

David Yong, Maxis Head of SME Sales, with 25 years’ experience in enterprise software and hardware solutions. He has been serving the SME community over 20 years with vast experience in industries like retail, manufacturing, distribution, trading , services , providing end to end solutions for businesses’ digitization journey.

Hans van der Zijden  (Vice President, Super Dry Desiccant)

Topic: How does COVID – 19 Impact our Supply Chains?
Hans van der Zijden worked at Nedlloyd and Holland America Line in Ocean Pricing before moving to Hong Kong with his wife, two suitcases and a Hilton Hotel reservation to start up a business.  He joined US Lines in 1972 and became founder of Senator Lines in Asia before joining Hecny in the supply chain world in 2000, until 2017 when he joined Superdry Pte Ltd in Singapore.  Lived in Hong Kong, Taipei, Singapore, Japan, Shanghai, Australia, and now Penang.

Dr. Daniele Gambero  (Propenomist & President, Malaysia PropTech Association)

Topic: Malaysian Property Conundrum: Outlook 2022 & Beyond, the Propenomy Way

Dr. Gambero is a serial entrepreneur and expert in property and Proptech.  He is a well known and sought after international and TEDx speaker, best selling author, judge, and mentor.  He is currently the Group CEO and co – founder of REI Group and Propenomy.com.  He holds MBAs in macroeconomy and marketing, as well as a PhD in Marketing.  He is the President of the Malaysia PropTech Association and was recently appointed “Malaysian Ambassador” in the PropTech – For – Good network, a global movement aiming to a betterment of the Property ecosystems following the guidelines of SDG – 2030 & ESG. He is also a member of the Global PropTech Council.
